Hey, my name is Marc Eaton. I know that this is a few days late but things have been hectic being out of state visiting my family for the summer in New Hampshire. So... about me, I live with my dad and my dog Scout. For fun I like to read, play videogames, hang out with friends and play/ watch sports. I don't have any of the books yet but I plan to get them this week. I chose to be in AP lit because I believe it will help prepare me for college. Well thats about it. I look forward to being in the class and meeting you all next school year.

Hi Marc! Better late than never is my motto (sometimes;-))
What kind of family do you have in New Hampshire? I've never been up to that area - just New York. Want to go to Boston someday;-) What kind of dog is Scout? What are your reading preferences when you choose what to read? What kind of videogames do you play/enjoy?
Looking forward to meeting you too... you seem like a very pleasant person from your post! And yes, you're right - AP Lit will definitely prepare you for college - it's the BEST choice for that.

Well most of my family live here like my mom, my little brother, step brother, mom's boyfriend, aunts and uncles and my cousins. I live with my dad in Dade City. My grandparents, on my Dad's side, live right next door to us. My grandparents on my Mom's side live in Cape Coral, about a three hour drive south from Dade City. My older sister lives with them. I believe she attends Florida Southern? Scout is a Jack Russel Terrier. He is kind of crazy. He runs around really fast and I can never catch him. The place where I am at now is only about a half an hour, 45 minutes from Boston. I go there to watch the Red Sox play at Fenway park. I like to read mysteries, humor, adventure, and classic novels. My Dad had a collection of comic books from when he was younger that I read also but they don't really count as literature. I have an XBOX 360 so I play games on that, mostly shooters and war games. We have actually met before. I was in your creative writing class for the first couple of days at the beginning of last year. I think it was second period? I dropped out of it not because I don't like writing, thats actually the profession I am interested in. I am just not too comfortible with public speaking. But I will have to get over that fear won't I?

Yeah - if you want to be a writer, the public speaking goes with it... unless you want to be a writer and never publish anything. If you research writers - almost any kind, a good percentage of their time is spent traveling and speaking to their fans;-) The good side of that with the fear issue is that you can prepare something usually! I totally understand the fear... I have the same issue. I'm OK in the classroom - once I get to know everyone! - but with strangers or big groups, I'm more introverted.

The kind of novels I would enjoy writing opposed to other genres would be ones with an overall topic shown through symbolism. Whats the point of reading something that you would have to do no research on in order to understand? If and when I do write, I would want my readers to learn something in the process.

Yes, I have read all of his books except Digital Fortress. I wish he would come out with some new stuff.
